Short Description or Reference to Initial Projects This project aims at changing the "Deutsche Bibliotheksstatistik - DBS" (German Library Statistic) to an up-to-date technologie. Each library with PC and Internet-connection participating at the DBS should have the possibility to feed data online and to request evaluations by mouseclick. From the organizational point of view, these new offers has to be linked into a service including advertising and training.
The DBS is the only national statistic, which covers all library sections and is based on standard definitions determinated by EN ISO 2789 "Internationale Bibliotheksstatistik" (International Library Statistic).
The DBS gives due to its figures and evaluations meaningful models for library developement and the potential to estimate of trends as well as for political arguments.
The DBS will be extended in its contents in a way, that the survey and evaluations "Etatsituation der Wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken" (budget situation of scientific libraries), executed separately from the DFG can be take over by the DBS. The required supplementary questions will be integrate in the DBS- questionnaire for scientific, universal, and university libraries.
